Located in Downtown Kitchener, an area steeped in culture and history, The Rich Uncle Tavern looked back in time to find inspiration for its name, and in doing so, did not need to search very far. In the late 1800s, a local cigar manufacturer named Joseph Winterhalt created the “Rich Uncle” line of cigars, boasting that they were “10 cents and worth it”.
Taking the Rich Uncle name a step further, we created a fictional personality that framed the Rich Uncle as an elusive globetrotting adventurer with no shortage of stories to tell. The eclectic collection of antiques and oddities found throughout the space became pieces of his past that guests could find and interact with. Menus were housed in vintage cigar boxes to accompany the old-world advertisements and portraits on the walls, creating the perfect stage for the mouthwatering food photo and video content that showcases the restaurant’s locally sourced pub fare and inventive cocktails.
